right on cue:
i did drive within the range i mentioned. 138 miles. 3 jobs.
i worked well past the start of the indians game. by the time i clocked out, the game was well over, despite the fact that it was only the 5th inning.
and about that, it was bad. we were on the wrong side of the blow out.
then there was the 'teenage' goldfish that was sick and /or injured in the one pond i maintain in tubac. the owner asked that i remove it from her pond. i recommended putting it in a plastic baggy and putting it in her freezer. this is the easiest / most pain free for-the-fish way for a fish to go. she loves her fish, but apparently not that much, the notion was denied. i was told to 'throw it out back' somewhere she would never see it. i placed it on a rock in the front loosely wrapped in the latex glove i wore to carry it to the spot from the pond. i left his eyes uncovered. he was so far gone, he / she did not struggle hardly at all. it was bleeding badly. i went back and completed my work. by the time i was done, the fish had passed. go i dug fishy a shallow grave and placed some rocks over and around the spot. as per my instructions, i mentioned nothing of this to the owner. the only only sick animal i ever had to put out of its misery was a bat. i was told and did use a shovel. the 15 years ago that this occurred it did not occur to me to bury it. instead, i tossed it into the nearby woods. i have lost many pets, but never did i see them when sick or dying.
