threesome

my weekend in three pictures.work on my pantry kicked off the weekend. that has already been documented. thursday night, i continued to stay up. till 04:30. an hour after i finally laid down, my home phone rings. i hear a message being left. it was from sub finders. they stated there were several positions to be filled. the next thing i knew, it was 11:30. i obviously was still in bed. so friday the contact paper was applied as planned. sat i finished putting everything back in. apartment back to normal. it does look even better in person.
also as planned on friday, i went to the sidewinders game to see randy pitch. he did ok, and even hit a double. my buddy's fiance's kids were excited as they got autographs from sandy sidewinder. it was announced that the sidewinders were going to be playing a doubleheader on sunday. a seed was planted. the sidewinders lost 5-6 btw. in front of the fifth largest crowd ever at TEP.
after running many errands on saturday, and grilling up a steak for a late dinner, some buddies came by. some beers were drank, and video games were played. at 01:00, i had to kick everybody out. why u may ask? i was running in the susan g komen run for the cure at 08:00 at reid park. it was only a 3 + mile run. i could not believe the turn out! someone said they heard over 12,000 people were there. they turned reid park into a mini city. it was crazy. so i parked in the el con mall parking lot. since i had not gotten a practice run in the week as i had hoped, i decided to forgo the buses that were shuttling people to the starting area and hoof it down there. i thought i had plenty of time. i did not imagine the complexity of finding three different booths in 'the village'. i had my brought my book bag with me. among other things, it contained my car keys and wallet. i finally procured everything i needed. the race was beginning to start. finding my friends (to see if any non runners were present among them) was not an option. i trusted my book bag to a large palm tree, and ran to the start. the walkers and joggers were about to begin as the competitive runners were well on way i parted my way through the masses. as soon as i could, i started running. i think i was the last one to do so. but i was not the last to finish, of course. i only averaged a 10:26 mile pace. i did better than that in my half marathon! but then again, i had not even stretched. everything was different for that race. btw, the palm tree did an excellent job of 'holding' / protecting my book bag. thanks again palm tree.
after stopping at starbucks, i came home, i watched the end of a great tribe game (they won 2-1 despite getting only one hit), eat lunch, and went to the doubleheader. in between is when i came across the duckies. they usually hang out by the pool. the threesome are anual visitors. i gave them some bread. back at the stadium, i unexpectedly received free tickets, while standing in line to buy tickets. the games were good. each team won a game. i got a game ball, and had two sidewinders sign it after the second game. one of the dudes was 1B chris carter. we ended up having a discussion about the x-files. for those who do not know, a different chris carter wrote and produced the x-files. he seemingly reluctantly admitted he was a huge fan. i told him that was cool, so was i. we talked about that. he said he even had the x-files theme song play when he came to bat, but he gave up on that. i told him he should do that again. oh yeah, and it was dollar hot dog day to boot.
then i came home and cleaned my bathroom. yeah!
the end
