what i learned today

dude, comedy central is showing southpark, the movie, the unrated version, totally uncensored! how fucking cool is that?! just too bad it still has commercials.

it is friday. what have i done u ask? alot of reading. newspaper, magazines, websites. here is what i have learned:

-the number of planets may soon be increased to 12. the new additions: ceres, the largest asteroid in the asteroid belt. charon, pluto's moon. it will be considered a double planet. charon is so big when compared to pluto, that it doesn't revolve around pluto, they share a common revolution point. an object just recently discovered in orbit WAY out past pluto, yet bigger than pluto. it has not yet been named. it has been unofficially dubbed 'xena' by its discoverer.

-cigarettes are bad, and tobacco companies have lied to us. well duh. also, terms such as light and ultralight are to be discontinued.

-things are bad in afghanistan. once again, duh.

-the NSA may soon not be able to use wire taps in their fight against terrorism. the round one winner in the courts is the constitution, not pres bush. the article was very non specific, making it hard to formulate an opinion on the subject. the reason for debate, supposedly the wire taps only are used to monitor communications with those outside our country who have had ties to terrorism communicating with those inside our country.

-both being buried AND being cremated polute. a swedish company will freeze dry u, pulverize your remains, and put u in a cornstarch coffin. no one said it was easy being ecologically sensitive.

-dolphins are not as smart as everyone thinks. their brain size is large, yet they have few nuerons. their large brain size is all about keeping warm in a cold marine environment. regardless, i know alot of people whose intelligence wouldn't surpass that of a slug, yet a dolphin.

-congress is worried about an asteroid impact. they want NASA to do something about it. also, NASA is all but giving up on robotic explorers and science. instead, it is concentrating on sending man to the moon and mars. the sad thing, they only recieve .6% of the us's budget money. just think, if they recieved 6% ... dang!

-the army is in charge of protecting ancient ruins in hatra, iraq. an arizonan guardsman who went to the u of a for archaeology is in charge of protecting the ruins.

-tv is distarcting, especially to kids who are watching cartoons. this was actually part of a study.

umm, i was going to type more, but i am being distracted by cartoons on the tv.
