well, if blogger had been working earlier this AM, u might have heard it here first. contrary to the reports that had been going around about new planets being added (damn premature journalism), the number of planets has dropped, by one. the unlucky recipient: pluto. yes, pluto no longer a planet! the new 'culprit' criteria that spelled this nomenclature disaster for pluto: orbital dominance. pluto has a very elliptical orbit which sometimes has it inside the orbit of neptune, the other times outside of it. pluto is being downgraded to the level of ceres, the asteriod who definitely had its hopes up with the talk that it was going to hang with the big boys as a planet. pluto, like ceres, is basically just the big boy in its crowded neighborhood. ceres resides inside the asteroid belt. pluto 's odd shaped orbit defines the inner ring of the kuiper belt. unlike ceres, pluto isn't even the big boy in this group. 'xena' is. 'xena' was the other planet-to-be hopeful. to add injury to insult, pluto is having the term dwarf attached to its name. right hook, left hook for pluto. we will just kick ya, while u are down, umm k. that is alright. i won't be any less excited when the new horizons spacecraft ends humanity's drought in visiting u in 2015. u and your three moons. the two new moons were just officially named Hydra and Nix. by the same committe that just belittled u. what is in a name anyways? a name that comes from the inhabitants of a 'planet'. inhabitants who once thought the earth was flat. inhabitants who once thought the stars and planets revolved around our planet earth, not the sun. inhabitants who right now believe that over 70% of the 'stuff' that constitutes the universe are unkwown substances, which we call dark matter and dark energy. over 70% is stuff that we made up! why? because without making up crap, and having it be the primary substance of the universe, the equations don't work out. hey, i tried this in college in my mech e classes. it did not work for me. admit it, the equation is wrong! your theories are wrong! admit that u don't know, and work on figuring it out. umm k.
