luna excellencia

sunday night:

i am watching an x-files episode that i have not seen before. i am glad i stayed up to watch it. just as long as i do not (again) miss my appointment with UA.

i started this entry sunday night. this was all the further i had gotten.

monday:

-i did not miss my appointment this time. all went well. now i have choices to make, and work to do.

-i stayed up to watch the total lunar eclipse. actually, i did take a 3 hour nap, got up at 01:00, went to bed at 03:45, got up at 08:00 for yet another dental appointment. i caught a cold, but is was well worth it. the thing that amazed me was all the meteors i saw. all from the lawn of my well lit apartment complex. i now have a cold. it is much better today. it was well wort it.

last week:

i worked a record 52-1/2 hours, in 4 days, in the heat and humidity. the week started off with another record, 166 miles driven. the day started off with the discovery that my tools and parts were maliciously thrown and dumped into another truck. i then hear that the yahoo who did so monday morning was bragging / boasting about it 8 hours later to everyone in the office. he was even mimicking the throwing style he used to toss my toolbag on top of the heap. he got his butt chewed off, and i haven't even spoke a word to him to this date.

saturday i went up to see the d'backs defeat the cubbies.

the last 13 days:

the tribe is 10-3!

right now:

it is late. i must hit the hay.

classmates wanted

i signed up for a class at pima comminuity college last monday. the name of the class is something akin to survival strategies for the substitute teacher. it is a non-mandatory 1 credit class, which would require 1-3/4 full saturdays in september. it may not happen. i got a call from the professor yesterday afternoon. he said if he does not get 3 more people to enroll, the class will be cancelled!

speaking of classes, monday morning i received a call 1-1/2 hours prior to my meeting with the U of A. my advisor called in sick. we rescheduled for next monday, which coincides with the first day of classes.

i watched sun, moon, and earth with your host charlotte and trudi last night on the tucson access channel. i have never seen anything so hilarious on TV. they are wayne and garth. only they are both female, both old, and only talk about astrology and astrology related issues.

meat-i-er

i was reading my second favorite magazine today (discover). it was part of a do-mostly-nothing sunday. they are g-g-g-great! as tony T would say. anyway, there was an article about spontaneous remission of cancer. one example in the article was about a man who's cancer had started as a lump in his armpit, and quickly moved to his lungs. it should have killed him in 6 months, but went away instead. the knowledge of his supposed terminal 'disease' did trigger a lifestyle change for the better for the man. it was listed that he ate healthy, went on long hikes, and meditated. sadly, remissions are so rare that most scientist disregard them.

the significance? i have a small football shaped 'lump' in my left index finger. it is hard, and definitely something under the skin (aka nothing i want to squeeze or pop out myself). it did start as i what i thought was a bug bite, a small and itchy protuberance. but as it grew, it ceased in its itchiness. it's growth does seem to be on the decline. i still believe it is something that my body and its complex immune system can handle. but that article definitely opened my mind to ugly possibilities. i wonder if i should fit seeing an oncologist into my schedule?

as for my schedule tonight: looking for perseid meteors is on tap. i am not going anymore, just out to the pool area. everyone should be asleep, prepping for work tomorrow. i read that the later, the better the 'show'. that is why i am here and listening to the 2nd running of comedy central's roast of flavor flav instead of being outside. i like mondays being my off day, btw.

as for tomorrow's schedule: talk to the UA about their education program. that, and i plan to grill out. and to return a call regarding a matter i wish not to be the middle of.

peace, BOY!

bye bye BB

as long as i remain in tucson, i have no reason to ever to go another blockbuster again. now that i discovered the wonder of casa video. let me list the reasons for its greatness:

-casa has all the movies that BB does, and then probably 3 times more, easily. they have movies listed by director, movies listed by actors / actresses. by nationality. u think of it, casa probably has it.

-there was not one movie that was rented out. a week ago i went to BB with 3 movies in my mind to rent. all 3 were out.

-casa is cheaper.

-and they have rent 1, get 1 free tuesdays AND wednesdays.

-casa gives you free popcorn while you look through their vast selections. they could cut down on the salt content and increase the butter content.

-casa does have late fees, but they are a convenient couple blocks away from my work.

-i think that about covers it.

it is currently 04:11. it is tempting to stay up and finally go hiking. it has been for ever. really tempting. the mountains must be teeming with new life after all the rain the monsoons have produced. i did sleep some tonight. i could go monday also. hmmmm. sleep wins. good night. the more more i write, the more i would want to stay up.

all about work

i typically do not mention work here. today, that changes. why? just because.

alot has changed at work. irregardless, things seem to be very much the same. btw, is irregardless a double negative.

-on that note, the biggest changes involve personnel. in one year, we have had a new draftsperson, a new office manager / head secretary, two different secondary service techs, a new assistant secretary (she was the proponent of the irregardless being a double negative), and lost and have not yet replaced the medium to large job crew leader and BTB guy (only NPG employee know what that acronym stands for). numerous crew leader assistants / general laborers have come and gone, as well as a good service tech assistant. this guy has been somewhat successfully replaced, but he will also be lost to the start of school at the u of a.

- of the myriad departed: one is currently in jail. one could VERY well soon be. at least two (that i know of) have moved to california. one is at his second job since, already. i am sure there are some others in this category. one has already got a raise and promotion. one is going to school for art, one for architecture. one (once again, that i know of) still has yet to get a job, and she raises three children. one quit his next job to build his house. at least three left as heavy drinkers, to put it nicely. one i still see occasionally, as his 'girlfriend' lives at my complex. one ex i went tubing on the salt river with two weeks back.

-of the one who could go to jail soon: the reasons are for what they did while they were an employee with us.

-the building has totally been remodeled. the old entrance is now a product sales room and showcase. repainting is in progress, and more than half done. of all the repainting, the drafting room looks the best. the drafting room multi color scheme was chosen by the draftsperson, the rest was chose by two feng shui dudes.

-i now work tuesday through friday, instead of the typical monday through thursday. starting this week.

-speaking of, i was to have wednesday off this week as transition into my new schedule. monday my work truck was still in the shop, where it was brought in on friday. but the two new secretaries missed the call. so instead of being done, the shop guys were still waiting for permission to make additional repairs. i was to go to tubac on monday, hence the oil change and check up. now, my truck was wont be ready till the afternoon. so i s-can my whole day's work schedule, reschedule all for wednesday, and leave work in the AM. so i see the movie sunshine at the tucson's dying mall. if you ignore all the scientific inaccuracies / impossibilities, it was a good flick. similar to event horizon.

- i put a record for a day 125.0 miles on said truck on wednesday. i was flying solo that day. thank goodness for xm radio.

- the new assistant secretary is a buckeyes fan, originally from OH. the previous one has cried foul play in regards to her departure and ability to get unemployment to support her and her three kids.

-my man bear pig sticker on my radio finally fell off. shortly thereafter, the battery died. coincidence? i think not. my new radio has a new sticker.

-big jobs are scarce right now, and have been so for awhile. that is no bueno.

-i need to go to bed. i am too used to thursday nights being like friday nights. now fridays are just that, fridays.
