woah!

so, speaking of no time, I SHOULD BE IN BED NOW. getting up uber early in the AM has been rough 3 of my last 4 work days for some reason. but i am waiting for a CD to burn, and tsuki to come in. i just got finished on a pool and spa operational manual for work. it is 8 freakin pages long. three pages type written on word, two pages of drawings, and three pictures. it was a fun project though. sorta reminds me of what i loved about engineering. that is why i love this job though, it does have the best of both worlds. unfortunately, a world i am leaving out of the equation is the necessary 'evil' one of finances.

speaking of work, i am happy my friend james is back! he got to 'roll' with me on monday, his first full day back. he is the type of dude u can say anything to. he just has that type of personality. just like when we were returning to the yard. he gets out of the truck and proclaims he has to take a 'pedro'. now, quick witt has never been my forte. it is there, it just isn't quick. so many times i think of a perfect response or comeback, hours or even days after hearing or seeing the comment to be responded to. anywho, i immediately responded, 'don't forget to wipe your james'. i don't think i have ever mouthed that response before, but out it came. i was so proud :) and just in case u are 'new here', pedro is the nickname that i have carried around with me since i was in high school, back in OH.

i have been catching up on my reading lately. one interesting thing i learned is, this may seem shocking) keanu reeves is a smart dude. i loved his interview! he does not have a computer. i think that is awesome. i held off for awhile. i didn't get my first one till january 2002. yes, i went thru college, as an engineer, without having purchased a computer. and yes, as much as i love the fact that 'neo from the matrix' does not own a computer, i do realize the irony in that without me having a computer, i couldn't be doing this newfound 'blog thang' that i love so much.

ok, tsuki may have to stay outside tonight. it wouldn't be the first time. i am sure it won't be the last.

sweet dreams to me!

day of sadness

i was talking to my mother tonight on the phone. she mentioned how she was glad dad had driven to his new jon in tennesee on saturday, rather than flying there. i said: 'why is this?'. she said because of the plane crash in kentucky. i just gone reading about it. 49 people died today. in a single plane crash. it was the first air disaster since nov 12, 2001. 49 people. two of those people were a couple who had just gotten married the night before. in a fairy tale wedding ceremony, which featured a horsedrawn carriage, not to mention 300 guest. they were on their way to start their honeymoon. the plane was heading to atlanta (so dad would never have been on it). for a majority of the passengers, this was just a connecting flight. this of course, means there were not too many people waiting in atlanta for a passenger to get off from that plane, had it actually made it there. positive identifications of the unlucky 49 were not possible. a plane that is just taking off is carrying ALOT of fuel on it. that is not a good thing when the plane crashes with alot of fuel on it. there was one survivor, the copilot. he was rescued by a fireman who got burned in the process of procurring the sole survivor.

when u sit back and think of an event like this, one that can happen to anyone, at any time. well, it can really help one appreciate what they have got. redefinine one's priorities in life, which IS oh so precious. my eyes have been tearing since i read that article, just thinking about the families and friends, of those 49 people. how many people would be saddened if you died today? multiply that number by 49. that's alot of sad people.

... out of respect, being someone who has lost the two people who he loved more than anything in the world in an vehicular accident, there is nothing else i can say that has one iota of signifigance compared to this tragic event.

who are u?

damn ultimate fighting whatever. because of u, i could not get into bw3 tonight to play trivia. a $5 cover, and the place was packed, for ultimate fighting what-the-fuck!? that sorta tells me something about tucson. bw3 has trivia everyday, and the place is never packed. u can go to the bar, play some trivia, in a smoke free setting, eat some good wings (good but small), and drink beer. not good enuff a reason to pack the house. but ultimate fighting what's-its-pants is on, and people are 'fighting' to get in at $5 a pop. playing trivia rocks! back in OH, i had some buddies with whom we warred when it came to trivia. bricks, motor, karl, mac daddy mc. we all played for blood! good times, good times. bricks, motor, and i should have been honory part owners of bw3 during the summer of '95. we all had just recently turned 21. the tribe was playing, and went to the world series that year. the bar had just recently openned before the baseball season started. the place was packed every night. every trivia box would be taken. 3 were always stashed away for us though, just in case we were running late and didn't beat the crowd. that very rarely happenned, but when it did, it wasn't a problem. the trivia games were intense, the baseball games were great! the beers were flowing. life was good. damn, that was 11 years ago! funny how so MUCH shit has happened in those 11 years. sure, it is almost 1/3 of my life, but wow!

anywho, i just settled for sonic for dinner and coffee afterwards, because of damn ultimate fighting jingy-ma-bob.

i still haven't put down my friday night stuff. i am getting into the flow of this now. i have always wanted to do this, blogging that is. before it was even a 'thing to do'. maybe i knew i would do this. either way, i do not like the name: blog. sounds like the noise a cartoon vampire would make when it throws up. B-L-OG.

the only thing, i am a slow typist, and time always seems to be at a premium. like tonight, it is 1:15 AM. i din't go hiking today, and want to do so tomorrow. therefore, i must go!

dwarfism

well, if blogger had been working earlier this AM, u might have heard it here first. contrary to the reports that had been going around about new planets being added (damn premature journalism), the number of planets has dropped, by one. the unlucky recipient: pluto. yes, pluto no longer a planet! the new 'culprit' criteria that spelled this nomenclature disaster for pluto: orbital dominance. pluto has a very elliptical orbit which sometimes has it inside the orbit of neptune, the other times outside of it. pluto is being downgraded to the level of ceres, the asteriod who definitely had its hopes up with the talk that it was going to hang with the big boys as a planet. pluto, like ceres, is basically just the big boy in its crowded neighborhood. ceres resides inside the asteroid belt. pluto 's odd shaped orbit defines the inner ring of the kuiper belt. unlike ceres, pluto isn't even the big boy in this group. 'xena' is. 'xena' was the other planet-to-be hopeful. to add injury to insult, pluto is having the term dwarf attached to its name. right hook, left hook for pluto. we will just kick ya, while u are down, umm k. that is alright. i won't be any less excited when the new horizons spacecraft ends humanity's drought in visiting u in 2015. u and your three moons. the two new moons were just officially named Hydra and Nix. by the same committe that just belittled u. what is in a name anyways? a name that comes from the inhabitants of a 'planet'. inhabitants who once thought the earth was flat. inhabitants who once thought the stars and planets revolved around our planet earth, not the sun. inhabitants who right now believe that over 70% of the 'stuff' that constitutes the universe are unkwown substances, which we call dark matter and dark energy. over 70% is stuff that we made up! why? because without making up crap, and having it be the primary substance of the universe, the equations don't work out. hey, i tried this in college in my mech e classes. it did not work for me. admit it, the equation is wrong! your theories are wrong! admit that u don't know, and work on figuring it out. umm k.

i have more, but it will have to wait. it is almost 2:00AM, and i am contemplating getting up early and go hiking.

that is the total number of runs, followed by the total number of hits for the indians vs royals game tonight. this is why i do not give up on the indians. it's been a shit-ty season. they won't be in the palyoffs. their record probably will be below .500 for the seaon. tonight they are down 10-1, at the end of the first inning! to lowly (to be nice) KC!! in KC!!! yet they kept chipping away. they got to 10-9 in the sixth, then the royals score 3. seemed like the end of the rally. game over man. then came the ninth. oh, the beautiful ninth. we scored 4 runs to tie the game. the tying run is batted in via a two out triple. after KC goes down meekly 1-2-3, the tribe scores 2 in the tenth. a rookie, ryan garko, had an RBI double in the ninth, and a two out RBI single in the tenth that plated the winning run. in the first inning, garko had an error at that made 7 of the 10 runs KC scored in that inning unearned. D'OH! redemption from the rook, gotta love it!

watching the game, i had 2 (major) thoughts.
the first was a flashback to one of the greatest comebacks ever. i game i was at in cleveland. we were down 12-0 at the end of the third, to a good seattle team, on sunday, aug 5, 2001. my buddies and i left, just as cleveland scored 2 runs in the fourth. we didn't have to work monday, so we went to the bars in the flats to party it up. we got hotel rooms as we usually would, so no one had to drive the hour trip home at 2 in the AM. the bars there were sorta dead, being a sunday and all. so we sit down at the bar and watch the rest of game. it is 14-2 at the end of the sixth. yeah (sarcasm)! then we score 3 in the seventh, 4 in the eighth, and yes, 5 in the ninth to tie it up. the place is now going crazy. most of the patrons were like us, they had previously been in the stadium watching the game, now are here at the bar, because we had all given up. fools, fools i say. cleveland scored a run in the 11th, on a walk off single, to win the game! how about that! as howie c would exclaim. i made a momento of the game. i framed the ticket and scorecard. i surrounded them with newspaper clips of write ups and the box score. to me, this represents never giving up hope. coming back and succeeding despite seemingly unsormountable odds and discouragingly bad circumstances. and i was there to be a part of it, even if i did leave. tonight's win was almost as impressive as that august night's game back in 2001.

the second thought: TRADE VICTOR MARTINEZ FOR A TOP NOTCH ESTABLISHED YOUNG CLOSER. i know, this may at first seem ridiculous (to an indians fan). but think about it. cleveland will NOT succeed in our tuff division without a closer. we have no one ready in the minors. this has been proven this year, and further validated after the trade of wicky. we need a good closer, one who will be around for awhile. top notch young closer are not common, therfore are not cheap. why shell out big bucks on a free agent? we tried this past winter, and were unsuccessful. victor can hit. his bat would be a major upgrade to any line up. he puts up awesome numbers, for a catcher. as a first baseman, he does not have the power most firstbasemen possess. he is not good at throwing out runners. this has badly hurt us this year. a single is almost a guaranteed double when he is behind the plate. teams run at will off victor. plus, despite his hitting talent, he has NO speed. he leads the majors (i believe) in grounding into double plays. he bats in front of travis hafner. as another slow dude, who is one of the best hitters in the majors, i would walk pronk (as hafner is called) in any critical AB, pitch to victor and hope for the rally ending DP. this happened tonight, but victor did come thru with an RBI double in the ninth. regardless, victor is very young, very talented at hitting, and signed long term fairly cheaply. his trade value is tremendous. probably enough to get us what we desperately need, a young top notch closer. kelly shoppach is good enough to be the starting catcher. he has some power, and can throw runnners out. our offense is good enough overall that we can afford to give up some hitting to become better defensively, and fill our gaping hole at the mucho critical position of closer. plus, now garko has a regular position at first. do it. do it now! TRADE VICTOR MARTINEZ. sorry dude, but it just makes too much sense.

ok, i must hit the sack. i didn't get to work till 7:00AM. i just could NOT get out of bed this AM. i did not check my e-mails today. a first, i belive. usually when i get on the 'puter, i check my e-mails. not tonight though. i hate getting onto patterns.

i have always loved this song. then i heard it today, while at work. this is unusual, my work truck does NOT have a radio. i know, i know,.... i should quit:) but it was in the shop. so i used a truck with both a radio and A/C, as its replacement. so hearing this song today was made possible by my regular work truck being a piece o crap. i am out. four hours of sleep is NOT a good way to start a work week.

wasting my time

sunday, sunday, sunday. yup, today was sunday. and a good sunday it was! it was mostly just about being lazy. although i am doing laundry now. i am also watching the yankess vs red sox game. i hate the yankees. HATE. i hate the hype this series always gets. but i must admit, this has been a good game. i just hope boston holds on.

yesterday i worked for almost 4 hours, at my place. i was cleaning up my cactus garden area. clean up, pruning, repotting, repositioning. it was well worth it. as i was finishing, a couple of passer-bys commented, both using the word 'beautiful'. my neighbor thanked me profusely for cleaning up her area. damn, it is tied up. anywho, i didn't admit i did it out of necessity, not just being nice. so since i worked, late ( i didn't start till 4:00PM), i went to play. trivia at BW3, darts at jeff's pub. i closed down jeffs! hadn't done that in a long time. hence my not getting out of bed till11:45.

ok, the shatner roast is about to begin.

what i learned today

dude, comedy central is showing southpark, the movie, the unrated version, totally uncensored! how fucking cool is that?! just too bad it still has commercials.

it is friday. what have i done u ask? alot of reading. newspaper, magazines, websites. here is what i have learned:

-the number of planets may soon be increased to 12. the new additions: ceres, the largest asteroid in the asteroid belt. charon, pluto's moon. it will be considered a double planet. charon is so big when compared to pluto, that it doesn't revolve around pluto, they share a common revolution point. an object just recently discovered in orbit WAY out past pluto, yet bigger than pluto. it has not yet been named. it has been unofficially dubbed 'xena' by its discoverer.

-cigarettes are bad, and tobacco companies have lied to us. well duh. also, terms such as light and ultralight are to be discontinued.

-things are bad in afghanistan. once again, duh.

-the NSA may soon not be able to use wire taps in their fight against terrorism. the round one winner in the courts is the constitution, not pres bush. the article was very non specific, making it hard to formulate an opinion on the subject. the reason for debate, supposedly the wire taps only are used to monitor communications with those outside our country who have had ties to terrorism communicating with those inside our country.

-both being buried AND being cremated polute. a swedish company will freeze dry u, pulverize your remains, and put u in a cornstarch coffin. no one said it was easy being ecologically sensitive.

-dolphins are not as smart as everyone thinks. their brain size is large, yet they have few nuerons. their large brain size is all about keeping warm in a cold marine environment. regardless, i know alot of people whose intelligence wouldn't surpass that of a slug, yet a dolphin.

-congress is worried about an asteroid impact. they want NASA to do something about it. also, NASA is all but giving up on robotic explorers and science. instead, it is concentrating on sending man to the moon and mars. the sad thing, they only recieve .6% of the us's budget money. just think, if they recieved 6% ... dang!

-the army is in charge of protecting ancient ruins in hatra, iraq. an arizonan guardsman who went to the u of a for archaeology is in charge of protecting the ruins.

-tv is distarcting, especially to kids who are watching cartoons. this was actually part of a study.

umm, i was going to type more, but i am being distracted by cartoons on the tv.

yo no quiero taco bell

the work week is over! almost. i will go in tomorrow. just to take my truck in for service and to catch up on paperwork. just get up whenever, go in whenever. no plans for this weekend, just whatever. love the non-descriptness!

last night i watched scary movie 4, the unrated version. i was disapointed. maybe i was just too tired from working 13 hours, but it didn't seem that funny. it probably didn't help that i have not seen war of the worlds or the grudge. the whole movie seemed to revolve around spoofing these 2 movies. the openning scene with (the real) shaq and dr phil was pretty good.

today i finally tried the nacho crunch grilled stuft burrito. it too was disappointing. i have been wanting to try one for awhile. monday i got a call to pick up a buddy from work. i was excited, because i knew on the way home i would pass taco bell. so i pick up my buddy, drop him off, and stop by taco bell as planned. i then find out there will be a 25 minute wait. 25 minutes! for taco bell! insanity!

today on my way to work, i am actually listenning to the radio (as opposed to listening to tool or nothing at all as i usually do). i flip to what i think is the classic rock station, but it can't be! stone temple pilots is playing. the radio station must have changed their format, i am thinking. it was their first big song (plush), but still, wtf! i may be 'old', but stone temple pilots IS NOT classic rock!

two weird firsts in baseball this week. on tues night, for the first time ever, 2 games went 18 innings. i stayed up (very late for me) to watch the one, the d'backs and the rockies. of course, the following day i end up working 13 hours. d'oh! today, for the first time ever, lead off homers were hit in the 1st and 2nd innings, by both teams.

i am watching south park right now. they just advertised for a new comedy central roast, of william shatner! YES! beam me up, scotty, i will be 'there' sunday night.

ok, i am out.

13.8.06

IT'S PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!!!

if you watched the rerun of The Family Guy tonight, you will understand. i loved the sand people chorus job flashback! that was freakin hilarious!

so, friday night i ate at ann merinos. best italian food i ever had! last night celebrated a buddy's birthday. today i have not left the house. a rarity. i did enjoy listening to the indians beat up on the kansas city royals 13-0 today. they scored 11 runs in the first inning! it was the indians sixth win in a row. leave it to cleveland to start playing good baseball when there is no chance at all of making the playoffs. oh well, better late than ever, i guess.

another reason for my 'veg out' today: collapse. i am hooked. the game is evil, in a good way. i think i like it better than tetris, my favorite computer game of all time. here is what i have done.
best score after the first level: 20354
best score after the second level: 45099
best score after the third level: 80332
best overall score: 749237
highest level achieved: 9

oh yeah, i am leaning towards no in the architecture avenue. six years just seems like such a long commitment at this stage of my life.

9.8.06

BEEP BEEP!

so, there he is! my ferocious beast. guarding his food. we shall just simply call him CAT.

speaking of, i know this is bad, but i am feeding a stray. he is a butterscotch calico. he is friendly, unlike the last stray i fed. for that, it cost me over $200 in emergency room bills when it tried to take my hand off. this new dude does have a large cut on its head, and would need nuetered / spayed / snipped / whatever. him and CAT do seem to get along.

so, the other pic came from one of the jobsite's i have been working at this week. i looked up, and the sun was right in the middle of that cloud. u can see what happened in the short time it took me to get my camera, which was in a bag right by me. it moved fast. also seen at this jobsite, a road runner. i had just started on this job, and i heard a weird bird 'chirping'. i look up in the trees nearby, as it was loud, and saw nothing. this happened again and again. finally, i noticed on the wall, about twelve feet away and three feet above me, a roadrunner. he precceded to walk towards me on top of the wall. he stopped when he was almost directly 'overhead'. then he took off. and no, wiley was not chasing him. :) i have heard rumors out here that the indians considered it good luck when a road runner crosses your path. sorta like an anti-black cat. nothing bad has happened, so i gues that is good.

i had two good photo ops today, but i missed both. one was a strange looking, tall, blobulous cloud 'hanging out' over a mountain peak. the other was an electric construction road sign. one minute it was reading 'striping begins (& it mentioned a specific date)'. then it flashed 'expect delays'. no doubt! for both, i was driving, and pulling over really wasn't an option.

oh yeah, i am still undecided, but leaning towars NO. this friday will be my final decision day.

that is all i got tonight. i know it has been awhile, but i am streaky like that.

5.8.06

little shop of horrors

finally, the second picture has been loaded. 'it' let me do one last night, but not the other. what are these pictures of, you may ask? imagine what u may, but this is actually my carrion, or starfish plant, doing its bloom thang. the picture on the left was taken at 5:30AM, the one on the right was taken almost 12 hours later. and yes, those are flies inside. this is how the carrion plant recieved its name. it smells of rotten meat so that it attracts flies. the decieved flies then proceed inside, and not finding any meat, i would guess leave dejected. although the flies needs were not met, the plant was successful. the flies just helped the carrion plant carry on in its battle to continue its existence. btw, the plant only smells strongly to flies, not to me or my neighbors at my apartment complex :)

so, the indians also relate to the title above. in their last 6 games, they are 2-4. of the 4 losses, three were walk-off fashion (aka, the indians are on the road, and blow the lead in the ninth inning, someone from the opposing team gets a hit that scores the winning run, and GAME OVER, man.) in the other loss, the lead was lost in the eighth inning. frustrating, demoralizing, ugly, sickening, disgusting... that's my tribe (as they say in the TV commercials).

so, i had my 'big' meeting friday. getting straight into the masters program is not an option. getting into the bachelor's program will not be easy, it could be a six year commitment. nine if i would go for the masters. decisions, decisions.....

1.8.06

things that annoy me...

1. my apartment complex: i have lived here since march 2003. i have had problems with my ceiling growing columns twice before. termites, doing their thang. it has been awhile, but now they are back. i called monday AM. the columns have grown, and not even a phonecall from the office. WTF! on top of this, my rent has stayed the same ever since i moved in here. that finally changed 7 months ago, when i signed my new lease. my lease is up at the end of aug. they are upping my rent, again. and no month to month, for my loyal, pay my rent (almost always) on time booty. yet there is no way on this short of notice that i could be in a new place by aug 31. between the searching and moving and the working, sleeping, and eating .... rrrrrrrrrrrrr

2. my boss: for numerous reasons i won't go into. let's just say none of the reasons relate to the job i am responsible for with the big problem and now unhappy customers. sigh

3. liberals. no, just kidding. :) republicans. ditto.
but what really gets me: ponds that i built that leak. a first time experience. i do NOT like it.
the indians sucking this year.
big millipedes, which are everywhere after a good rain.
vacations that go WAY too quick.
airlines, especially when BIG delays are involved.
the philadelphia airport. a pilot verbally confirmed it to me: u suck!
this thing growing on my.... JK!!!! :)
