finally

i finally have done it, thanks in part to the new draftschickie at work. she wasn't feeling good thursday, but thought maybe it was just allergies. now it is friday, and after having to work with her the last two days after getting back from 'the field', i myself am not feeling swell. hence my staying in and catching up on my blog, and FINALLY getting around to creating my hiking-only blog. click on the link to the right to read all about them and check out my six best pics from each.

that was my main goal for tonight. i watched the indians win an exciting game in the ninth, caught up on e-mails, and finished my hiking blog. now i am going to bed. my weird and wild tuesday and other stuff will have to wait for another time. i want to get up early tomorrow to finally get the oil changed on my jeep. i would do it myself, but then i don't have to bother with recycling the oil, and brakemasters will rotate your tires to boot for under $20.

oh yeah, the head of the MEE department was on an unexpected business trip all this week, therfore no interview yet. i have decided if this goes down, i will cut my hair.

i'm not scared of tickles

wow, it seems like yesterday was friday. i hate it when that happens. a nine hour hike (on saturday) will do that, i guess. that and other stuff of course. always with the other stuff.

by the way, once i put up the hiking pics & recap, the title will make sense. just need to find the time, and having typing ski-ills would help too.

ok, it is late, and tsuki is practically laying on the keyboard, so i must go zzz.

em ee jay oh bee II

everything is going so well.

bo yah! i just got finished with my phone interview. it went very well, if i do say so myself. will have the face-to-face next week. they will call back with the specifics later. now the dilema, do i cut my hair??? i know many will say yes, and i am not even including my mom, with whom i hear that all the time. the guy i talked to did sound older, therefore someone who may be like my parents, and more biased towards me because i do have long hair and do not fit the stereotypical mold of a professional.

ok, i must hit the bank, and go do my one job. i am hiking at 07:30 tomorrow. i am pumped about that to. so i probably will just go to starbucks tonight and read, so i am sure to be up early tomorrow.

outshined. yes, yes, yes.

21.9.06

I AM IN A ZOO GALAXY ON MOVIE DAY.

there is a pattern in the above sentence. can you figure out that pattern? can you?

ok, here is a hint: the spaces inbetween the words are part of the pattern.

got it yet?

ok, another hint: it is a simple, two part pattern.

any idea?

come on, you can do it.

ok, i will tell you.

every other space is a backwards spot, starting with a normal (forwards) letter. it just so happens that the letters i have chosen in the backwards spots are letters that are the same when written / displayed backwards, or is occupied by a space. of course, a backwards letter can fill a forwards space, since it is really both. there are 11 letters that fit this criteria.
they are: A H I M O T U V W X and Y.
i made a list of words that are composed strictly of these letters. MOUTH is the only word comprised of more than four of these letters.
i made a list of all words that fit the backwards / normal pattern. TEAMMATE and MOUNTAIN are the longest words i have come up with so far.
i also made a list of words that fit the normal / backwards pattern. CHEVY, MOVIE, QUOTE, QUAIL, LIMIT, STOUT, and GALAXY are the longest words i haveve come up with.
so much for getting to bed early tonight. i now have a new 'game' to play.

as for the title. i received a phone call today. i have a phone interview with the medical products company i mentioned last friday regarding the mechanical engineering (em ee) job. i wish it was a face to face interview. shy and quiet me actually feels more comfortable in a face to face interview. the only advantage with the phone interview, i don't have to dress up. it also works out better considerring the first of the 4 jobs i went to today took me 4-1/2 hours, for many various reasons. therefore i only got 2 of the 4 jobs i had planned to do today. plus, i was seven minutes late for the meeting, the last person to show up. at least i did stay awake through it, but it was tough. so i have to do the one job tomorrow. the other job will be done next thursday, as the customer was agreeable to this change.

ummmm

i have to be up in a little over four hours for work. been doing work documents for a safety meeting tomorrow. i didn't even watch the tribe tonight as not to distract myself. they lost anyways.

i do not feel like going to bed though. i heard sleep is best in multiples of 3. is tempting to stay up another hour. so very tempting. then again, i have never been a big fan of 3. plus, i plan on doing four jobs, and being back at the yard at 13:30 for this meeting. then i have to stay awake for the meeting. this has been a problem in the past. therefore ...... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

carrion, yet again

it's like a how-witz-zer.

same plant, third bloom, one more to go. this one opened one 'petal' at a time.

also, popeye would be sad. his beloved spinach is tainted.

ok, it is late, southpark is almost over, and i have to be up at 4:00 AM the next 2 days.

tgfc = thank god for coffee!

done with tuesdays

today was a good day.

i got my jeep key made. it was cool to see the keymaster do his thing, and make a key from scratch. he made two of these, and replaced my spare apartment and gate keys that are also MIA.

the tribe won, ending a three game slide. they blew the lead in the ninth, but scored in the 10th to win the game. it was exciting, yet nerve racking at the same time.

i got a call about an engineering opurtunity here in the tucson area. it is with a company that produces medical equipment. i am somewhat worried. it may be difficult going from working outdoors to being back inside an office, and most likely a cubicle. last night when i was walking to starbucks, i passed an office. the lights were on, exposing the labyrinth of cubicles inside. i thought how i was glad to be out of that environment. i do not like money, but it is a necessary evil. i could not comfortably support a family on my current salary. and since that is my ultimate goal (to have a family someday), i should have a job that matches that goal. a job were i can travel. also, as far as the greater picture is concerned, being part of a company that produces medical products is of greater importance to others than a job that pertains to a nice-ity, even if this nice-ity produces feelings of peace and tranquility. all signs point towrds yes in regards to this oppurtunity.

i accomplished my goal, i finished tuesdays with morrie. the last half was as good as the first half! i went back to starbucks tonight and did so. even though i 'got' my jeep back today, i did not use it. i walked to the bank earlier in the day, and once again walked to starbucks tonight. no clouds out tonight. only blackness. it was still a great walk. and the book, wow! alot of what is in there seems like common sense. alot of what is in there i have always thought myself, and now has been validated. the hard part is living those words and incorporating the ideals in one's life.

ok, i want to get up somewhat early tomorrow. i do not feel that tired, but will hit the sack regardless.

eris be thy name

it is now official! the once tenth planet wannabe, the body previously called xena by its founder michael brown and the media, this controversy causing orb whose official catalog name is 2003 UB313, this thorn in pluto's short lived planetary side now has an official name.
ERIS is its name-o.

eris is the greek goddess of discord and strife, and the instigator of the trojan wars. i am sure pluto would not disagree with this choice.

xena, er eris, does have a moon. the moon was temporarily named after xena's sidekick from the show. i could look up the name, but why? that name is out, and DYSNOMIA is in. dysnomia is the daughter of eris. she represents the spirit of lawlessness. i guess the IAU wanted to provide some sort of vague xena reference in their name choice (lawlessness = lucy lawless). dysnomia does have a medical meaning also. it refers to marked problems remembering names and recalling words.

here is some info on eris and dysnomia
discovered: january 5, 2005
discoverer: michael brown
diameter: 1,490 miles (2,400 km)
which is 5% bigger than pluto, for all those with whom size does matter
orbit: closest distance to sun = 37.9 AU
furthest distance from sun = 97.6 AU
current distance from sun = 96 AU
sunlight leaving our sun takes over 13 hours to finally reach eris and dysnomia
for reference, pluto's orbit ranges from 30 AU to 50 AU
NOTE: one AU is short for astronomical unit. it is the distance from the sun to the earth, about 89.76 million miles.
year: 557.8 earth years to orbit the sun
day: not known
temp: a rather chilly -405 F
moon size: an estimated 190 miles (305 km) in diameter
that is about all we know

i wonder why the IAU waited to name this 'dwarf planet' till now. they should have done it before the whole planet debate. they refused to call eris xena, instead using boring 2003 UB313. eris would have recieved much more attention had it had a 'real' name at the time of the planet debates.

tuesdays

i am reading a new book. i recieved it from a friend's fiance. i just openned it today. i wish i hadn't waited so long. i am on page 109! i will buy this book, and reread it, probably many times.

my friend was over at my place about a month ago on a friday. it had been awhile, he was on my side of town, and stopped by for some brews, baseball, and catching up. he noticed a book i had out. the book was mitch albom's five people you meet in heaven. this book was forgotten till i went to sunset beach. i stumbled upon it gathering reading material for the long plane rides ahead. i did not open it, but i got it out of hiding. so, i get back from the beach, and instead of going back in hiding, it is out and about. my friend sees the book and remembers his fiance read tuesdays with morrie and loved it. mitch albom also wrote this book. so, i lend five people to him for his fiance to read. he returns it, saying she devoured the book in two days, and loved it just as much as teusdays. along with my book is her book. she has lent it to me. she left a post it note on my book, thanking me and letting me know it was a 'fantastic read'. now i have to read tuesdays. when i am lent things, i try to return them promptly. unfortunatley, i do not allow myself much time to read. THIS WILL CHANGE. there are definitely trade off areas where reading time can be substituted. baseball is not one of them though. it only will be on thru october, than nothing till late february, when spring training starts. so, tonight i finally started the book. it is also a fantastic read. it is a book about life, and it is right on. it could be considered a book on religion, it is so right on. i plan on finishing the book tomorrow, on my first day off. it will be somewhat busy though, so this goal be not be attained.

since my jeep key is still missing, and because of the fact that the last 3 days i have been brought home (by two different people), i have not done after-work-coffee in three whole days. so tonight that had to change. i walk up to starbucks. no cell phone to interrupt me, and allow me to be disconnected with time (my cell phone doubles as my watch). since i don't have to work tomorrow, i bring tuesdays with me. i had already showered, and was watching the tribe game till it got out of hand in the 8th inning. then i left. perfect time for a walk. perfect temperature, it seemed almost cool, but oh so totally comfortable. nice breeze. saw a few stars. lots of well spaced puffy white clouds to the west provided for a warm comfortable feeling and a cool view. side walks to guide me all the way to my destination. passed a few friendly people along the way. i was even told at starbucks i arrived at 'the perfect time', as a fresh pot of coffee had just finished brewing. the only downer was both very brief and insignificant. a jeep tried to run me over, :) sort of. he turned left, not noticing me. after he did, he apoligized with a hand gesture. a momentary scare for both of us due to our sudden observation of each other. then we each moved on. no biggie.

so, as great as the journey, the book was better. i can't wait to finish it, and move on to five people. i highly suggest both books, and i am only about 60% done with one of them. i will not go into details, only repeat: read the books. do it, do it now :)

also, if you are ever down in green valley, and you like chinese, go to china moon off of the esperanza exit. for the first time ever, i went down to tubac. the reason was for work. the customer was giving me and my co-worker lunch ideas as we were about to leave her house. the china moon was one of her suggestions. i am glad we stopped. i do not eat alot of chinese, but our portions were large, the food was served quickly, the prices were very reasonable, and it was good. bon appetete (sp?).

good night.

crisistunity

well, manbearpig is unrelenting, surprise, surprise. still no keys. i am 90 some percent sure they are no where around. but my jeep is still in the same spot it has been since mon, and nothing is gone from my house. a coworker suggested i buy the club for my jeep. no way. let someone take my beloved gas guzzler. i will use the insurance money to buy a more environmently friendly vehicle. it wouldn't be as cool. no matter what i get, it still won't be a jeep. but if it would get taken, then it was it's time to go. loosing the original key lessons the grip it has on me anyway. alot of good has come from this event. much cleaning took place. behind the computer was wicked, and the floor of the pantry was sorta bad. i decided i may even paint this weekend. tsuki was happy too, as many toy mice were found. speaking of, above is a pic of tsuki trying to support the brownies cause this coming sunday by inundating my browns watching jersey with his magical good luck cat hair.

i found out about the incident that caused the mass piss test taking drama yesterday. i still do not understand my exclusion and the sunbsequent lies i had to repeat to others. i did hear, from a 'top' source that there was on other employee that was exempted. no one else knows the truth about him either.

i also saw a double rainbow today. i believe that was the first double rainbow i have ever seen. it was pretty cool.

more baseball oddities today. for the first time ever, three home teams got shut out and lost by 9 or more runs in one night. there were 5 shut outs total, which is also a record for one day. also, gary matthews jr hit for the cycle. this is not unusual, it has happened 28 times so far this decade, which is already a record with over 3 seasons to go. what was unusual was the way he did it. he hit his single, his double, his triple, and his homerun in that order, numerically. this was only the fourth time in major league history it has occurred numerically. all four times have been in this decade coincidently. how about that?

i am all kinds of tired, and i must be ready to go at 5:15 to catch my ride. i cannot be late for this dude. he said 5:15, I WILL BE READY then. yah :)

12.9.06

takin a break

the chance of me going to plush tonight are diminishing by the minute. why, u ask yourself? i cannot find my jeep key. my one and only jeep key. i searched, and searched, and searched this AM. i finally gave up and called an employee to pick me up. i came home, thanks to another employee. i have searched, and searched, and searched some more. my one bedroom apartment, my jeep, my porch, the outdoor trash can by the mailboxes, my indoor trash cans, my recycle containers, the fridge, the freezer, the shower, the microwave, the stove, cabinets, drawers, the litter box. i am running out of places to look. i did call the apartment office, no one turned in any keys. can u say manbearpig? blackhole, spontaneous metal combustion, a prankster poltergeist? maybe they were beamed up by their mother spaceship, returning to the home planet of keynonia, where they can roam free, untethered from any keychains, never having to jingle against their brethren again, living a life of long anticipated solitude.

funny coincidence. i get back to the office tonight. i am the last one to arrive, due to my late start. the secretary tells me that everyone had to take a piss test today. she is holding my form to take in. she rips it up in front of me. she tells me to tell no one about this, and if asked, to say i went down there. my boss overhears the exchange, and states in a joking tone 'now don't be going home and getting high dude'. yes, this happened despite everyone knowing i have 'lost' my keys today.

well, break over man. time to search some more. i have a concert to attend tonight.

11.9.06

one bad apple...

almost singlehandedly ruined the TOOL concert saturday night. the band finally comes on stage after a long intermission. they start out rockin! then, some yahoo threw a bottle at maynard's head. maynard's response: he left the stage, while the band played on. for the second song he was also mostly absent. the only thing, no one knew what was going on. not until he explained himself after the second song. maynard was totally justified in his response. but it just seemed to sap the energy from the crowd. they ended up playing for over 2 hours. they played all their great tunes, and almost every song included extra jams. it was sweet, but the energy just wasn't there. my buddy i went with has seen TOOL 3 times now on this tour, and said saturday night was the worst of the 3. of course, being the worst of the 3 shouldn't be taken the wrong way. neither of us have been to concert we enjoyed more than our worst TOOL concert. even the long wait in line for the urinals was fun, just bs'ing with the people in line. the whole time, i only saw 2 angry people, no fights or any stupid stuff going on, other than the bottle throwing incident.

speaking of concerts, i am going to another one tomorrow night at plush. i do not know the name of the band, but my buddy made a good sales pitch on them. it doesn't start till 9 or 10. wednesday at work will be fun.

i can't belive it, i just watched an episode of FRIENDS i have never seen before.

that wasn't as cool as friday night (as cool as being alone on a friday night watching tv can be). tvland ran a mini marathon of original star trek episodes.

9.9.06

countdown to TOOL time

18 hours and 12 minutes.
that is when the TOOL concert starts tomorrow at cricket pavilion in phoenix. me, my buddy, his sister and her friend will start the roadtrip up at about 4:30. i can't wait! this will be the third time i have seen them in concert.
i have much to do tomorrow, so i must be going.

ROCK ON :)

dancing in the streets of caracas

a no no today. FINALLY! someone this year has finally thrown a no hitter. not that they are common, a few seasons have gone by here and there without one being pitched all year. 32 teams that each play 162 games. that is 5,182 chances by a starting pitcher to throw a no hitter, and some seasons, it hasn't happened. here are some (of my beloved) numbers:

last no hitter thrown in either league: may 18, 2004 by randy johnson 6,364 games ago
note: this was the longest streak EVER in the major leagues.

last no hitter thrown in the american league: april 27, 2002 by derek lowe

so this afternoon, anibal sanchez, a rookie, decides things need to change, that a drought needs to end. and he takes care of business. he piched nine innings for the florida marlins against the arizona diamondbacks, and did not allow a hit. some numbers involved in his gem:

103 = the number of pitches thrown by anibal

22 = the age of anibal

13 = the number of this start in his major league career

6 = the number of strikeouts he threw

4 = the number of walks he allowed

1 = the number of base runners his defense allowed (via error)

0 = well d'uh

~2,000 = the estimated atttendence at the start of the game
NOTE: this is sad. the league average attendence probably hovers around 20,000 a game.

so, i was watched one inning of the game on reply. fox sports always replays afternoon games. sanchez was born in venezuela. two other players, from both teams combined, were also from venezuela. one was at bat, the other was playing at third base, the third one was piching, as i watched on. the venezuelan threw the ball, the venezuelan hit the ball, and popped it up to the venzuelan who caught it at thirdbase. hence they were dancing... but serially, congrats anibal!

btw, it was gracie (commentator mark grace) who made the dancing comment, i just really liked it.

today after it rained, i saw a smudge of a rainbow. the last two nights i saw moonbows. for those who never heard, a moonbow is the cirular rainbow that (obviously) encompasses the moon. i did not see one tonight as i was walking to the bank to pay back a new neighbor who is also a part time employee at my workplace. the clouds were too thick to expose the full moon though. its presence was noticeable. it illuminted the numerous puffy clouds in the whole eastern portion of the sky. btw, i had to stand in line to be able to use the atm. the drive up atm, that is. that was a first.

ok, i am going to work on my hiking blog. i won't post the link until i am finished.

peace

another ... bloom, hike, and death

the hike:
where: ventana canyon trailhead
when: mon, 04 sep 06
the experince: f'n sweet :)
i finally made it out hiking. i started at 11:45, and didn't get back to my jeep till almost 6:00. i only made slightly past the maiden pools and falls area, about 2.6-3.0 miles each way. after the falls area, at about mile 2.4, the trail was really overrun. i wasn't sure if i was on THE trail, or an old indian trail for awhile. grasses, weeds, bushes, shrubs, and those prickly mesquite limbs form a canopy over the trail. all growth falls into the trail path. the midpoint of the canopy aligns well with the midpopint of the trail path. i thought this might be the case, and had my pruners on me. i only trimmed mesquite limbs though. i am definitely a minimalist when it comes to deforming nature in an area i am fortunate to be hiking in. i even avoid stepping on the red ants that are always scurrying along the same trail path i am traversing. we sorta have an unspoken pact. i avoid stepping on them, they don't bite me. so far, so good. anyways, i do realize that i am in nature's territory, not vice versa. the beautiful canyon system that i hike in is also home to all kinds of lifeforms. one lifeform i came across yesterday, amazingly enough for only the second time ever, was a rattlesnake. i just got done checking the time, and thinking that i need to turn around soon. i pressed on for what i thought would be another 15-30 minutes. shortly afterward, i encounter an area on the trail that was so heavily overgrown, i could not see my feet or legs while going through it. i didn't go through it long. about four steps in, i heard the very distinctive 'warning announcement', from a rattlesnake. i slowly backed out of the dense canopy, then stopped and waited to see if i could see or hear anything else. i saw nothing. i heard nothing. i do believe in signs. i believe that was a sign i should turn back NOW, which i did. so i had a great time, took alot of pics, as alwyas, and help ready the trail for the winter hiking season. EXCELLENT!
NOTE: in my constant need to organize and categorize everything, i will be making up a hking only blog. as soon as i do, a few of pics from this hike will be on there.

the bloom: my carrion plant. it was from the same one that bloomed back in august. there should be one more. notice the difference in cleanliness!

the death: steve, the croc hunter, irwin. he died doing his job. he got stung in the heart by a sting ray he was filming for his show. it was reported that it is rare for somebody to die of stingray sting. its stinger does contain venom, but not that much that a sting anywhere will kill a human. steve died because this sting ray stung him in his achilles heel, the only place a sting ray can sting someone to kill them, his heart. his death is tragic. i only watched him from a comical standpoint. i was always impressed with his knowledge though. he even did an episode where his 'animal' for the show was an air force or navy jet. i believe it was the F/A-18. i know alot about airplanes. growing up i wanted to follow my grandfathers footsteps in the air force. as i got older, i wanted to design air force jets. i read all his air force magazines. i memorized all US aircraft. steve knew what he was talking about when discussing the jet. my point of all this: the one common in all of his animal adventures was the peril he put himself in with potentially harmful species. this signature peril is what led to his early demise. steve is a hero in his home country of australia. i would assume he has thrilled and educated many, many children here in the U.S. to life in the great outdoors. his enthusiasm seemed authentic. but, i do believe that if u continue to do something dangerous time after time, the law of averages will win out. the bad thing that could happen will happen, sooner or later. to die of a sting ray sting is rare, but after all that steve has done prior, it really doesn't seem rare at all. i wonder if steve's show would have been nearly suceesful as it was without him risking his life in almost each and every episode. he might have thought it was necessary to do so to capture the audiences attention. of course, this could easily lead to many lengthy tangents of thought and philosophy. so, in conclusion: rest in peace, steve. and thanks.

IRRADIATED FOR SAFETY???

I WAS AT THE GROCERY STORE LAST NIGHT. I WAS LOOKING AT MANGOES, BUT MY EYE PULLED TO THE YELLOW PAPAYA ABOVE. PAPAYA IS THE BEST TASTING FRUIT I HAVE EVER TRIED. UNFORTUNATELY, THAT WAS ONLY WHEN I WAS IN HAWAII. EVERYWHERE ELSE I HAVE TRIED IT SINCE, IT HAS SUCKED IN COMPARISON. BUT THESE PAPAYA HAD A LITTLE STICKER LABEL ON THEM, CLAIMING TO BE THE 'PRIDE OF HAWAII'. WITH A STICKER LIKE THAT, IT MUST BE TRUE. SO I WAS READY TO GIVE THESE 'PRIDE' PAPAYA A CHANCE. THAT IS UNTIL UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, I NOTICED ANOTHER STICKER LABEL. THIS ONE SIMPLY STATED 'IRRADIATED FOR SAFETY'. NO WEBSITE TO CHECK OUT ON EITHER LABEL, NO EXPLAINATION OF THE IRRADIATING PROCESS. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. WE ARE EXPOSING ITEMS OF CONSUMPTION TO RADIATION? FOR SAFETY??? RADIATION WAS BIG BACK IN THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY AS A MEANS TO CURE CANCER AND TUMORS. IT WAS SUCCESSFUL. THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT THE RADIATION LIKES TO BE EVERYWHERE, NOT JUST THE ONE LITTLE TUMOR / CANCEROUS MASS IT WAS BEING ASKED TO IRRADICATE. THIS OBVIOUSLY CAUSED PROBLEMS BOTH FOR THE PATIENT, AND THE DOCTOR PERFORMING THE 'SURGERY'. THE DOCTORS WHO USED THIS PROCEDURE BACK THEN USUALLY DIED A VERY EARLY PAINFUL DEATH, DUE TO THEIR CONSTANT EXPOSURE TO KILLER RADIATION. THEREFORE, I DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE BENIGN-NESS OF THE RADIATION BEING USED TODAY, I DO NOT WANT MY FRUIT IRADIATED. IT DOES NOT MAKE ME FEEL SAFE. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT OTHERS WOULD THINK, 'OH, THIS PIECE OF FRUIT HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO RADIATION, I FEEL SO SAFE EATING IT.'

WOW, I CANNOT BELIEVE TODAY IS DAY THREE OF MY WEEKEND. IT SEEMS LIKE I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING, EXCEPT FOR QUITTING SMOKING, YET AGAIN. SO, I GUESS THAT IS GOOD. YES, I HAVE BEEN TOO ASHAMED TO ADMIT IT, BUT I HAD STARTED UP AGAIN, A COUPLE OF WEEKS AFTER GETTING BACK FROM SUNSET. I CANNOT TELL U WHY THIS TIME WILL BE DIFFERENT. I JUST HAVE A FEELING IT MAY BE SO THIS TIME. MY LAST TWO ATTEMPTS, I THINK I WAS QUITTING FOR SOMEONE ELSE, NOT ME. I DIDN'T THINK THIS WAS THE CASE AT THE TIME, BUT NOW IN HINDSIGHT, I THINK THIS WAS THE CASE, AND WAS WHY I FAILED. I MUST DO THIS FOR ME. A NEW PERSPECTIVE I GAINED RECENTLY IS THAT IT IS SELFISH TO SMOKE AND PUT ONE'S HEALTH IN GRAVE DANGER, FOR MANY, MANY REASONS.

SO, I WENT RUNNING YESTERDAY AFTER THE DRAFT. TWICE AROUND REID PARK, IN THE AFTERNOON HEAT. IT WAS MY ONLY FREE TIME SLOT, INBETWEEN THE DRAFT AND THE INDIANS GAME. AT THE MOST, I ONLY GOT UP TO SLOW PACED RUNNING, AS IT HAD BEEN SINCE LAST OCTOBER / DECEMBER SINCE I LAST WENT RUNNING. I HAVE BEEN ON MANY MAJOR HIKES SINCE THEN, BUT RUNNING AND HIKING ARE TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT 'ANIMALS'. IT DID FEEL GOOD TO BE OUT THERE.
AFTER THAT, I CAME HOME, EAT, SHOWERED, WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE (SEE ABOVE), AND WROTE MY ARMY BUDDY WHO IS IN IRAQ A LETTER.
HAVEN'T EVEN WENT ON MY HIKE YET. I DID TURN DOWN TWO CHANCES TO GO OUT DRINKING LAST NIGHT. BESIDES BEING A MAJOR TEMPTATION TO SMOKE WITH THE DRINKING AND THE EASY ACCESS AND THE PREVELANT SMELL IN EVERY BAR U GO INTO (EXCEPT BW3), IT IS ALSO LABOR DAY WEEKEND, WHICH MEANS COPS ARE OUT EN FORCE JUST LOOKING FOR THE SLIGHTEST REASON TO PULL SOMEONE OVER AND SLAP THEM WITH A DUI CHARGE.

OK, I AM GOING TO DO SOMETHING NOW.

PEACE

another month bites the dust

today was the first day of september! goodbye august. it is now 2-1/2 hours past that first day. i, in my typical procrastinating ways, just got finished planning out my fantasy draft. i watched a fantasy football report the other night on espn, and tonight i went to borders at 8:30, after the tribe game, to buy a football mag. i just got finished. it is late, but the important thing is that i AM now ready. there are no fees in this league, it is all about the pride :) as long as i can get up on time, the draft is at 10:00AM, i should be good. my one buddy from OH runs the league, through yahoo. it should be cool, as long as it doesn't seem like work. tonight didn't seem so much like work, as just catching up on everything for the new season.

enough football though. baseball is still going on, and the tribe is en fuego! best record in baseball since aug 9. 17-5, i believe. they won again tonight. that is four in a row, and nine of ten.

ok, the draft starts in less than 7-1/2 hours. i plan on sleeping the majority of the time. i am in the middle of a four day weekend. i will set my alarm, just to be sure.

peace
