something is amiss.

with my computer.

can only stay connected to the net for short periods of time. much time has been spent, nothing has worked.

speaking of....i should go.

or this will not.

sometimes...

i hate technology.

not really though.

it is wednesday morning. things seem better, puter-wise. it is still supposed to be windy today. that was craziness yesterday. i wonder how many people carrying umbrellas got swept away yesterday? despite the wind yesterday rocked.

i worked on an awesome job.

i recieved a $40 tip for the job.

after getting back to the office, i found out my new pens came in! uni-ball signo, micro 207, in red, black, and blue. i love cool writing utensils. my green pen died shortly thereafter. maybe it was jealous.

gotta run! wil this go? only it know.

2:03:47!

that was my race time in the arizona distance classic half marathon this sunday AM.

that equates to a pace of 9 minutes 27 second per mile. i never thought i would finish under a 10 minute mile pace. of course, i do not time myself when i do run. i thank my two pacers though for my pleasing-to-me finish. even though the two of you pulled away from me shortly after 10 miles, just trying to stay close was a HUGE motivating factor for me. this was my first 1/2 marathon, ever. my legs were moving 100% on sheer willpower and determination the last 2-3 miles. i did sprint to the finish. i actually heard the announcer state that 'someone' had too much energy crossing the finish line, after calling off my name. that was not true. i do not know where that speed burst came from. it shocked the $#%&* out of me.

all in all, a beautiful day. before, during, after, now. imagine.

spring break?

as always, i have lots i want to put down, but little time in doing so. extreme tiredness is the culprit tonight. i do not know if i am teaching tomorrow, i should be receiving a call at 5:00 in the AM in that regards.

i need to register with TUSD to increase my options. i WANT to continue doing this every friday. i want to make an educated decision based upon experience by the end of the school year as to whether i want to go to school for this. one aspect of my 'perfect' world: i would just start taking random classes of interest. not towards any major. subbing a few days a week would be my income source. maybe working at NP&G one or two days a week. but that really complicates things, because for that to be worthwhile, i need big cool projects like the one i am working on now. that isn't something one can work on one or two days a week.

ok, enough about 'perfect' world, and why it does not work. in the world i am living in, tomorrow will be one week. one week without a cig. that statement seems so huge. then when you think about it, it seems so sad. but that is the triple mega uber hold the chemical nicotine had on me. it is soo wild, while i would smoke, i could think of nothing more than quitting. typically, when i am not smoking, i am thinking of nothing but. complete opposite situations, complete opposite thoughts. i knew which was the right one, but could not choose it. everyone seems to have there demon or three though. i can honestly say that was my worst one though.

so, to assist in the rapid purging of nasty nicotine while doing something i have always enjoyed, i went running on sunday (in lieu of hiking) and wednesday after work. down at reid park. sunday i made it around the block 4 times. wednesday i made it three times, but was running a greater percentage of the time. the extra added motivation for wednesday's after-work session:

the half marathon i am running sunday at 7:00 also in the AM at the arizona distance classic. brought to you by john bingham and the leukemia & lymphoma society. the longest race i have ever done was a 10k.

after wednesday's run at reid, i decided i will do the half marathon sunday, not just the 'girly man' 5k as originally planned. this means i must not go out for st paddy's day, for the second year in a row. this was a holiday i was named after. not really, but no one has to know it. i could claim so. i know plenty who will be out, that sat night. is best i do not go out though. temptation after libation is not a good thing for me right now. i have been playing things so safe, i did not have starbucks coffee until today. i did not have any caffeine withdrawal headaches, but it sure did taste good tonight. it did produce some cig cravings initially, but those quickly disapated.

i also watched the departed. twice. i usually do not like movies of that nature. i watched this long movie on back to back work nights. little miss sunshine, thumbs down.

hopefully, I WILL make it to RC racing tomorrow night.

i still do have to register for the race, btw. i was going to do it last night, then i got into the departed again. i was going to do it earlier tonight, but after logging on, a friend IMe'd me. that led to almost a two hour conversation. her boyfriend is also my friend. things are a little rocky now. i didn't even get dinner.

speaking of IM, it was through myspace. now that they have IM, i will use my account through there. i will NOT transfer this blog though.

ok, i must be a responsible teacher. i already took a huge step towards that end last friday. whether or not i teach tomorrow, it still will be day (my lucky number) number 7.

it is now 07:45 in the AM. instead of creating a new post, i thought i would just add to this one. my job today does not start till noon. all i know is that i will be an art teacher today at a K-4 school.

i am now signed up for the half marathon on sunday!

new horizons is now well beyond jupiter. in 8 + 'short' years, it will finally whizz by pluto. the new horizons website has a countdown timer.

i saw a report that states weekend heart attacks are more likely to be fatal. so if you are planning on having one, definitely do it doing the work week. i can attest to weekend colds being worse than weekday colds.

ok, i should be doing other stuff.

for real

wow. i have been meaning to get on here for awhile now. i only have till 21:00 though. 26 minutes away. i am watching star trek. as soon as that is over, it is movie time. then a hike, the earlier, the better.

blockbuster finally has some movies worth renting. sems like it has been awhile since that has been the case.

so, day number two subbing had 7th and 8th grade students cross through 'my' science class. i am definitely... it was a positive experince. considerring the many circumstances, it was a very good day. it was funny, one student thought he would insult me. he called me a nerd. i walked over to him, and commented 'u say that like it's a bad thing'. i don't recall him saying anything after that.

speaking of... i have finally experienced 'the moment'. now it has been over 24 hours.

i cannot believe it happened. i have always been a proponent of a much maligned baseball commish bud selig. no more. senator john kerry has taken his place. maybe i should have voted for him. maybe i will now in the future. thanks for looking into the b-s extra innings deal with direct tv, john. boo to you, bud. u cannot understand the fuss??? aparantly, you have absolutely no connection with the fans. maybe he is getting a piece of that pie.

i felt drawn to the mall today. to walk all around. it was weird. i did make one purchase, a book at borders, on buddhism. plus, i (hopefully) finally straightened out my fave 5 situation.

ok, it is almost 1/4 after.

it was just as expected, and then some. i was going through the pockets of my cordoroys (sp?) afterwards. i found two one dollar play bills i forgot to return to the 'vetrinarys office's' cash register in the classroom. if i go back there, i will return one. the other i will frame. i plan on sticking with pre schoolers or kindergarteners for awhile.

the manbearpig southpark is on RIGHT NOW. excelsior! i am spreading manbearpig awareness. i'm serial. it is midnight. on comedy central.

thursday the great!

what an awesome day!

- had a good day at work. started a cool project. i was with a fellow co-worker / friend. all was good.

-the tribe won their first game of spring training! they romped actually. 13-2. vs the houston astros.

-talked to a buddy from OH.

- i found out my first assignment for substitute teaching. i will be working at ocotillo elementary, subbing for a preschool class!

a day ALMOST doesn't get any better than this. :)

so, after four staright weeks of not subbing for many various reasons, i was starting to think this wasn't meant to be. today, they called me. i had my choice of a kindergarten class, the pre school class, or 8th grade social studies on an indian reservation 60 miles away. which one doesn't belong? it is so sweet! monday through thursday, i don my bandanna and roughed up steel toe boots and mostly work renovating (dirty) ponds while meeting new (adult) people almost almost every day. i am feeling more dialed in than ever at work. but on fridays, i will be will be dressing up in dockers and a collared shirt with my hair slicked back, helping educate the youngins of tucson. it's like i am two people, and i love both. and to start out with pre schoolers. what a perfect way to get my feet wet! the pieces do seem to be coming together. i am psyched! and did i mention the tribe won! :) :) :)

oh yeah, has anyone seen the moon tonight? if so, did you see the bright star just above and to the right of the moon? about the 1:30 position. that is saturn. i looked through the binoculars. i could not see its rings.
