turkey time again

hello every body...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

tis that time again. this year, i probably will have some turkey at destination #1, then some cornish game hen at destination #2. one week ago, i didn't even know what i was doing today.

then again, two days ago my toe nails did not match the color of the protection layer of my work books. now i have rock 'n' roll toes!

i went on a hike!

i went up to picacho peak today with a friend. amazing!, as always. my first big hike of the fall / winter hiking season.

and because i did so, i averted the heartache associated with the cleveland browns loss to the pittsburgh steelers in pittsburgh today. i expected another pittsburgh blow out. loosing a close game to your most hated rival at their place when we were winning AND just barely missing a game tying field goal with 4 seconds remaining; worse.

i have note really posted much in awhile. so i probably have not mentioned the awesomeness that is comet holmes. one has to look at it in binoculars to truly appreciate the tailless big poofball comet.

i worked at the koi show on saturday. that was interesting. some sweet fishy, fo sure.

ok, i got pics to post over on my hiking blog.

gold in space

i learned some things about gold today.

it is most abundant in our planet's biggest bodies of water, the oceans.

more gold exist on a single medium sized asteroid than has ever been mined on earth. this data was determined by the NEAR orbiter when it orbited and landed on near earth asteroid eros.

right now, neither supply is being tapped into. that might be something to look into.

it has been freakishly hot here. 90 degrees, in november. not that i am complaining.

houston:

aquarius, your arithmetic looks good for the course align, there.

that is the message my TV froze with. i small distant photo of earth from space was the only other thing that permeated the blackness the instant my TV froze.

and i missed part 3 of south park b/c of it. a quick check just verified that.

i am an aquarius.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

a forward

ughhh. we were up 3-1, and lost 3 straight, with our aces going in the 1st 2 games. business as usual in cleveland. i may be over 2,000 miles away and call tucson my home, but i bet i hurt as much, if not more, than most back home. i watched the game at home and alone (by choice) last night. i literally had to hold back tears. even while i was watching MST3K to cheer me up. good thing it is just a game.

in the much bigger and grander scheme of things:

i received a forward a couple of days back. by now, i mostly delete them. there was a period where i shuffled them off as soon as i received them. boy, how times have changed. anyway, this was one of those sappy and spiritual ones. some actually are good. at first i decided it was not worthy of being passed on. but it was one that was profound enough for me not to delete it. then the seed sprouted into the message.

the analogy followed a man who had died. he was travelling down a road by foot with his dog, who was the first one to pass away. they come to a place that appears to be heaven. this is confirmed by the man standing next to the pearly gates. the one thing, he was told his dog could not enter, not even just for water.

the man decides he must find his dog agua, and moves on. they come to a much more dilapidated looking place. the man at the gate there says that both him and his dog are welcome to get some water. after getting their H2O, the man inquires to where they are at. the man replies heaven. the man at the gate does not care that hell claims to be heaven because anyone who would leave their best friend behind does not really is not a heaven-kind-of-guy.

i love the thought that the pearly gates truly are hell's domain. it does seem like the easy way is often times the wrong way. the pg's seem to represent the longing for luxury and comfort that is satiated thru one's selfishness. it is all about the choices we make. i cannot even express in words the profoundness of these thoughts.

so there it is, my deep thoughts on this monday of sorrow.

i have to watch a movie about artist alex grey.

right on cue:

i did drive within the range i mentioned. 138 miles. 3 jobs.

i worked well past the start of the indians game. by the time i clocked out, the game was well over, despite the fact that it was only the 5th inning.

and about that, it was bad. we were on the wrong side of the blow out.

then there was the 'teenage' goldfish that was sick and /or injured in the one pond i maintain in tubac. the owner asked that i remove it from her pond. i recommended putting it in a plastic baggy and putting it in her freezer. this is the easiest / most pain free for-the-fish way for a fish to go. she loves her fish, but apparently not that much, the notion was denied. i was told to 'throw it out back' somewhere she would never see it. i placed it on a rock in the front loosely wrapped in the latex glove i wore to carry it to the spot from the pond. i left his eyes uncovered. he was so far gone, he / she did not struggle hardly at all. it was bleeding badly. i went back and completed my work. by the time i was done, the fish had passed. go i dug fishy a shallow grave and placed some rocks over and around the spot. as per my instructions, i mentioned nothing of this to the owner. the only only sick animal i ever had to put out of its misery was a bat. i was told and did use a shovel. the 15 years ago that this occurred it did not occur to me to bury it. instead, i tossed it into the nearby woods. i have lost many pets, but never did i see them when sick or dying.
